So apparently I’m a cowboy now because I just cannot get enough of the denim look. It’s like I just discovered denim or something because I’ve bought a whole load of new denim items, all predictably from Topshop. This week I had a crisis because the realisation that my degree finishes in three weeks, and thus soon after with it will come the demise of my student discount, has rocked me to my shopping core, so it has spurred on a flurry of rush purchases.
NOT this denim, although who can say no to a good Canadian tuxedo? Not me, and definitely not Britney. Where’s my denim train at?
Luckily for me, Topshop is all about the denim too right now, taking note of the intense focus on 60s and 70s fashion for S/S15. They’re really working the whole denim + florals + suede, and I have to say I’m really enjoying their take on the trend.
My first denim purchase was this adorable dress from Topshop, entirely unlike the majority of my wardrobe right now. Mainly because it isn’t grey or leather. Anyway I can’t wait to wear it in summer with bare legs and my brown boots, although for now I’m yes, your eyes are not deceiving you, I am bare-legged here. And yes, I am aware of the merits of sunlight/fake tan in avoiding corpse-like appearances such as my legs in these photos, but you know, what’s a girl to do? The dress is super cute, although I was a little concerned that I looked like I was in a sack at first, but I think that’s a good thing because I wore it to Honest Burger the other week week and it hid by burger baby belly nicely, so thumbs up to that!
My second purchase was a rash decision (as per) but definitely a wise one. Just a simple denim shirt, again from Topshop, which I can throw on with jeans (how I’m wearing it right this second), or I could have it unbuttoned over a dress if I want to look like Carrie Underwood on American Idol or something. It’s a look.
I ALSO indulged in yet another pair of Topshop Jamie jeans because they are the best, and once you hit upon a good thing, like Meg Ryan and her perm, you should stick with it. These are a nice light denim with little zips at the ankles which render them entirely impossible to remove in a seductive manner, or at all to be honest, and usually result in me falling over. I also bought them super tight and, to be perfectly frank, I am concerned about camel toe. It afflicts us all so I might as well address it, but I think we’re safe for now.
